Yesterday was World Humanitarian Day, 24 hours dedicated to celebrating people helping people. This year’s campaign “I Was Here” is about helping someone else, no matter how big or small the deed.

To promote this year’s campaign Beyoncé shot a new film clip for her song “I Was Here” at the UN, which was released on Saturday. The first time I watched it, it gave me goose bumps – it’s such a powerful piece.

What’s even more exciting is event organisers say they made social media history by inspiring over 1 billion messages of good will on Twitter, Facebook and other platforms.

According to the UN website, WHD coincides with the anniversary of the 2003 bombing of the United Nations headquarters in Baghdad, Iraq, which killed 22 UN staff.
